I rented this movie last night, I had no idea what’s it about. De Niro and comedy is enough for me.
Jason Kelly (Zac Efron) loses his grandmother two weeks before his wedding. He gets tricked into driving his grandfather Dick Kelly (Robert De Niro) to Florida spring break. Uptight Jason is in for an ultimate ride of his life.
I loved this movie, probably the best comedy I have seen. There so much funny awesome dialogue that I had to rewind some scenes. What a nonstop blast! Some comedy movies start out well then after 3-4 jokes movie falls flat, this movie didn’t. I was surprised to see rating 6.0 on IMDB, definitely deserves a 7!
Robert De Niro is fantastic like always. He is funny and yet he can be menacing still at his age. He is timeless.
I was not familiar with Zac Efron but I liked him in this movie. He is the perfect as an uptight guy. Seeing him engaging in activities that are far from his normal behavior is hilarious.
Jason Mantzoukas who plays drug dealer Pam was hilarious. I laughed so hard at times, what an awesome wild character. You could make a whole movie about this guy, loved him.
I was happy and surprised to see Roger Murtaugh in the film, oops sorry I mean Danny Glover! haven’t seen him in ages. Too bad he has a very small role. I can see a good buddy movie with Robert & Danny. Cool Guys-
There is, of course, female beauty and romantic relationship between Jason and Shadia (Zoey Deutch).
Robert has his own flare with beautiful Lenore ( Aubrey Plaza).
I was positively surprised how far this movie went in terms of comedy. There is lots of nudity and very awkward moments. I have never laughed so hard during a film, humor works. The script is brilliant, no flaws, great clever writing, interesting characters, and situations.
Once again I have to praise De Niro, he is badass, not many guys his age could pull a role like this. He steals the scenes, he is badass grandpa I would love to have.
What’s most important is that the movie has a good message about life, death, being old, fatherhood, passion. It could be seen also a drama.
Dick Kelly represents young soul trapped in an old body who wants to experience life and youth again. He knows that he is old and doesn’t have that many years left. He doesn’t want to fade out and die slowly,he wants to live to the fullest till the end.
It was a funny yet heartwarming film that deals with these important issues.
An awesome film full of laughs and epic moments. Great film for youngsters and older people. Definitely, a film that is rewatchable. Ultimate fun ride. I wish they would make a sequel to this!
